Harris Safety Training Services / Schools & Colleges
Real careers. Safe decisions. A different view.
Bring the world of work at height into the classroom. Engaging careers and workplace-safety awareness sessions that introduce jobs students may not have considered, encourage questions and connect interests to possible next steps.
For secondary schools and colleges · Presented by Ryan Harris
01 / A different view of working life
From construction and engineering to maintenance, events and production, there are people who build, inspect, repair, plan and support the work around us.
Discuss students’ interests and existing career ideas, then introduce unfamiliar jobs involving work at height and the teams behind them.
Explore the equipment, questions and planning that help people approach work safely, through accessible examples and presenter demonstrations.
Connect subjects, interests and personal strengths to college, apprenticeships and career routes students can investigate further.
02 / Session options
Choose a standard format or ask us to shape the content around a particular subject. Timings and delivery are agreed to suit each school or college.
An engaging introduction to the world of work at height, with industry stories, unfamiliar roles and time for students’ questions.
A closer look at careers, equipment and safe decisions, with discussion, presenter demonstrations and reusable activity packs.
Focused sessions for groups rotating through your careers day, adapted to the time available and the students taking part.
Drop-in conversations, equipment visuals and ground-level presenter demonstrations for a careers fair or college event.
Combine talks and workshops, or give one group more time to explore. For example, two shorter sessions or one extended workshop.
Reach several groups or explore a theme in more depth. Mix assemblies, classroom sessions and careers conversations to suit your timetable.
A starting point, shaped together. A talk might fill a short assembly slot; a workshop might fit a lesson or an extended session. Half and full days can combine different formats. Group sizes, breaks and room changes are agreed when planning the visit.
03 / Programme ideas
Enjoyable, practical conversations about careers and safe decisions, with space for students to bring their own questions.
These are adaptable ideas, rather than a fixed list of modules. We agree the activities and level of detail with each setting.
Discuss your subjectsPresenter demonstrations and reusable classroom resources support the agreed activities, with prompts for discussion, questions and reflection. The pack content is adapted to the age group, theme and visit format.
