01 / A different view of working life

Real jobs.
Useful questions.

From construction and engineering to maintenance, events and production, there are people who build, inspect, repair, plan and support the work around us.

DISCOVER

Find a role worth exploring

Discuss students’ interests and existing career ideas, then introduce unfamiliar jobs involving work at height and the teams behind them.

UNDERSTAND

See the preparation behind the job

Explore the equipment, questions and planning that help people approach work safely, through accessible examples and presenter demonstrations.

CONNECT

Turn curiosity into a next step

Connect subjects, interests and personal strengths to college, apprenticeships and career routes students can investigate further.

02 / Session options

A visit that fits
your timetable.

Choose a standard format or ask us to shape the content around a particular subject. Timings and delivery are agreed to suit each school or college.

01

Assemblies & careers talks

An engaging introduction to the world of work at height, with industry stories, unfamiliar roles and time for students’ questions.

02

Classroom workshops

A closer look at careers, equipment and safe decisions, with discussion, presenter demonstrations and reusable activity packs.

03

Careers days & carousel sessions

Focused sessions for groups rotating through your careers day, adapted to the time available and the students taking part.

04

Careers stands

Drop-in conversations, equipment visuals and ground-level presenter demonstrations for a careers fair or college event.

05

Half-day visits

Combine talks and workshops, or give one group more time to explore. For example, two shorter sessions or one extended workshop.

06

Full-day visits

Reach several groups or explore a theme in more depth. Mix assemblies, classroom sessions and careers conversations to suit your timetable.

A starting point, shaped together. A talk might fill a short assembly slot; a workshop might fit a lesson or an extended session. Half and full days can combine different formats. Group sizes, breaks and room changes are agreed when planning the visit.

03 / Programme ideas

Look. Discuss.
Ask why.

Enjoyable, practical conversations about careers and safe decisions, with space for students to bring their own questions.

These are adaptable ideas, rather than a fixed list of modules. We agree the activities and level of detail with each setting.

Discuss your subjects
  • Explore different jobs involving work at height, including operations, maintenance, inspection and planning.
  • Discuss what students enjoy, the careers they already have in mind and roles they have not encountered.
  • See ground-level presenter demonstrations using harnesses, anemometers and suitable portable equipment.
  • Use fictional workplace examples to spot hazards, ask what information is missing and discuss a sensible plan.
  • Connect classroom subjects and personal strengths to college, apprenticeships and possible career routes.

Reusable activity packs

Presenter demonstrations and reusable classroom resources support the agreed activities, with prompts for discussion, questions and reflection. The pack content is adapted to the age group, theme and visit format.

06 / Useful to know

Planning a visit?

Who are these visits for?

Secondary-school and college-age students. We adapt the examples, depth and discussion to the age range, interests, learning aims and group needs agreed with your setting.

Will students work at height or operate equipment?

No. Sessions and demonstrations take place at ground level. Equipment demonstrations are led by the presenter; students do not climb or operate access equipment during these awareness visits.

What does the school or college need to provide?

A suitable classroom or agreed presentation space, a display screen or projector, and enough clear space for the planned ground-level demonstrations. We agree room layout, access, group size and any other practical requirements with your nominated contact.

Does an additional staff member need to remain throughout?

Staffing is agreed with each school or college. Where its checks, policies and group needs allow, an additional staff member may not need to remain throughout. The setting decides the appropriate arrangements; an enhanced DBS does not automatically determine staffing.

Is this an accredited or approved course?

No. This is a careers and workplace-safety awareness session led by an IPAF instructor. It is not an accredited qualification course and does not award an IPAF or PASMA qualification or authorise students to operate access equipment.

Can we request a particular subject or adapt the session?

Yes. Choose a standard visit format, ask for a particular subject, or discuss a combination. We plan the content, timings, accessibility and delivery with your school or college and its nominated contact.

Which locations and dates can we request?

All locations are considered, with broad availability and dates agreed directly. Enquiries and bookings are open. Email us with your location, preferred dates, age range and the type of visit you have in mind.

How are prices, VAT and travel confirmed?

The fees shown are the starting point for planning your visit. The final scope, VAT position and travel terms will be confirmed in your quotation before booking.
